穷人的尊严The Dignity of the Poor
从前有个富翁爱听笑话，谁把他逗笑就赏黄金。富翁听的越来越多，越是难以笑得开怀。穷书生迫于生计也去讲笑话。那天穿过雕龙画栋的的长廊，来到富丽堂皇的府邸正厅，富翁和达官贵人们正襟危坐于堂上。穷书生噗通一声跪下，讲了一句话把在场的人笑得人仰马翻。他说：我们穷人也是有尊严的
Once there was a rich man who loved hearing jokes, and whoever made him laugh was rewarded with gold. The more jokes the rich man heard, the harder it became for him to laugh with any pleasure. A poor scholar, pressed to make a living, went to tell jokes too. That day he passed along the long gallery of carved dragons and painted beams and came into the resplendent main hall of the mansion, where the rich man and his eminent guests sat solemn and upright. The poor scholar dropped to his knees with a thud and spoke a single line that sent everyone present toppling over with laughter. He said: we poor people have our dignity too
